(taillight failure warning) Driving me crazy!

I have a 2010 Lexus ES350. It has been, and continues to be, a WONDERFUL car! But last week, I got a taillight failure warning. All of the tail-lights were working properly but I read where it might be a good thing to just check them anyway. I did so. I don't know if one of the taillights was about to blow and by checking all the sockets I caused it to go ahead and blow or what. Anyway, after I checked all of the sockets, the driver's side tail light stopped working. I read that 3rd party bulbs might not fix the problem because of slight resistance problems so I went to the dealer and replaced the defective bulb with a dealer bulb. The lights all work, but I am still getting the tail light failure warning! A couple questions/observations - I get the warning even when all of the lights are turned off. 2 - the icon the appears with the message has three little lines out of both the left and right tail lights; do these lines indicate each specific bulb? If so, that would seem to indicate all of the bulbs are defective!

Like I say, everything works fine; but this dang tail light failure message is driving me crazy!

Check for the side markers and brake lights.

I know this is late but if an ES350 taillight keep going in and out, just tape the bulb wires with electrical tape.

Late reply, but surely helpful for those who experience this.

Hi there! I apologize for the late reply. For those who are still experiencing this issue, I have a solution for you. First, make sure to use OEM bulbs (SYLVANIA in our case). For a 2010 Lexus ES350, you need the 7443 bulb for the main taillight (not the one in the tailgate), which is the larger bulb. It's a common misconception that only one type of bulb is needed; in fact, there are two different bulbs you will need. The second bulb is the 2825 or 168, which is the smaller bulb in the taillight. Both of these will do the job.

When installing the bulbs, please ensure that the larger 7443 bulb is inserted all the way into the socket, and listen for a click. (Just a disclaimer: applying too much pressure can damage or break the socket or the bulbs.) Remember, if the larger bulb is not fully seated, it may seem to work fine but could trigger a “taillight failure” message, which I know is very frustrating.

Once you have installed everything correctly, put everything back in, start your car, and the error message should be gone. I hope this helps!

'may not be in your case, but when I bought mine, it was led bulbs in the back.
