Default P2716 code Shift Solenoid Valve SLT

2716 Pressure Control Solenoid "D" Electrical (Shift Solenoid Valve SLT). Was driving my 07/160k km es350 on hiway and vsc/MIL/red triangle came on. No other symptoms. Checked codes at home and P2716 pulled. Local transmission shop did a quick check of oil (full and signs of overheating?) and recommended I come back and they will pull the pan and based on that , may do an oil /filter etc change etc. Any comments on fault/approach?

Do an oil/filter change and replace the solenoid.

Looking at the service manual, it seems the oil filter is actually an felt oil strainer in the pan (is there another filter elsewhere?) and also seems that replacing the SLT requires some disassembly eg transmission wire/temp sensor/lock plate.

new gasket/filter/fluid, pan looks good and clean. tranny guy says the sensor looks ok, in fact he has never seen one fail in 30 years, so run her and see if it reoccurs

Good. What brand was the filter you put in? What oil? Any differences?

1 hr labor $117, plus gasket $20, filter $40 and fluid $90 cdn +tax. Sorry didn't think to ask brand, seems to be real smooth

I just had this same code P2716 come up on my 2012 ES350. Before getting the code, My CEL and "TRAC OFF" message was appearing. This seemed to come on and off several times within a week. My mechanic suggested taking it to a local transmission shop for them to check it out. They have had the car 8 days now.

Should this be that difficult of a thing to diagnose and get root cause of Every time I call, he mentions that it takes time.

At this point not sure if I should go pick it up and find another place. Just wondering if this sounds legit that it could actually be taking this long to diagnose Thanks!

How many miles?

I would replace the pressure solenoid, oil and the filter.

It's got just over 90K miles.

What would you guess as a ballpark for cost on this?

My main question is about the amount of time to diagnose. they have had the car for over a week. He's telling me "it takes time to investigate electrical problems". At this point he's given me absolutely no details that indicate that they've done any work on it yet but he insists that they started looking at it.. Just wondering if this is anywhere near reasonable that it could be complex enough to justify it taking over a week.

If they have Techstream or any good diagnostic tool, they can diagnose this problem in 5 minutes.
The PSS may cost about $170 from the dealer.
