2011 ES - Should I Go Ahead and Replace the Oil Cooler Hose
I'm aware of the oil cooler hose issue on some of the early ES and RX models. My dad has a 2010 RX350 with 210k. His oil cooler hose ruptured about 10-15k ago. He was in a parking lot when he noticed it and, thankfully, didn't ruin his engine. It was towed and replaced with the metal line. This is the ONLY issue he's ever had with it.
I have an 11 ES, and it appears to have the rubber line from what I can tell without removing all the plastic guards. According to the Lexus dealer, there are no recalls on my VIN, nor did I receive a letter from Lexus on a warranty extension like I did for the sticky dash issue (I'd thought this was resolved by 2010!?). I see the part #s listed are 15767-31020 for the metal line, 15785-31010 for one gasket, and 11496-31010 for the other gasket. When I search these, it says this isn't compatible with the ES, even though it's the same engine.
My car has 99k. Should I even worry about this? If so, why does the part number show it as not fitting on both Ebay and the Lexus parts catalog?

Are you referring to the vvt-i oil line? Ours burst on our 07 ES350 - luckily, wife was a couple miles from home. When I got home I followed the oil leak from almost two blocks away to the house. Anyhow, the line goes along the brackets for the engine torque strut (aka dog bone mount). I can only speculate the bracket(s) design is different between a car and a SUV and it likely affects the design of the oil line(s).

If yours is metal-rubber than go head and replace it with all metal.
