Angry Audio Install Blues / Do I need the ASWC-1 for my SWC?

Hello everyone.

I bought the Boss Audio BVCP9675A with some upgraded 6x9s and 5 1/4s. The place I took it to sold me the harness kit, the dash kit and the antenna. I was told I wouldn't need the ASWC-1 to get the SWC working.

Lo and behold, when I got the car back after paying over $500, the SWC controls don't work. My door speaker seemed to cut out while I was driving and never came back on.

So the main question is (which I'm sure the answer is yes), do I need the ASWC-1 to get the controls to work?

While I have you here...

* Should I (try) to get the tech to disconnect the dash speakers
* Is there any documentation or examples I can give to the tech that will help him out with this install?

Any help would be appreciated.

I needed the ASWC-1 to retain steering wheel control. As far as I know it came with instructions but I had it done professionally.

If if your door speaker is cutting out and they did the install , I would have them take a look.

Yeah that's the plan.

It sucks cause my car was gone all day Saturday and I might have to take off of work tomorrow to make sure it's done properly

That shouldn’t have anything to do with your speakers, sounds like a loose connection to me.

What head unit do you have? The Axxess site is saying that the SWC kit isn't tested with my Lexus (no nav). I'm hoping it's not an incompatibility.

I'm gonna look to see if firmware can be updated somewhere
