Do I really need to get the paint codes from the door jam?

Do I really need to get the paint codes from the door jam?
I am asking because several websites claim to show ALL the colors for each year. For instance, for my 2008 they only show one color that represents the color of my car - white. I'm wonder if that is the correct paint or if I need to take those numbers off the door jam because there might have been more than one white, etc.

above is from Lexus 08 brochure. Some after market sites refer to the starfire and tungsten as white. Best go with the paint code.
