Default Loner to start

my 2010 es350 will sometimes start in about 3 seconds and other times it turns over longer, 2 or 3 times longer than normal.

cleaned the throttle body, ran injector cleaner through it, changes PCV valve.

Any ideas?

Is the engine turning over as fast as it usually does? When I have had similar problems a new battery has usually solved the problem. Tech always says "internal short" and I drive away happy.

Try to turn on the ignition (Press twice start stop button without pressing the brake pedal) Then turn The ignition off, and then on again, and then off, then press the brake pedal and start the car, Then come and tell me what happened.

I think the fuel goes back to the tank while it sits overnight. You should check the fuel regulator and the o-ring which is located in the tank.

Is your brake pedal hard to push when you first try to start? That happens if mine sits for a couple of days- but then after the first push- it returns to normal.

I expect there's some kind of "leak down" happening somewhere but it's not a problem that I'll take to the dealer (yet).

Good luck to the OP

If u do what LjeksesES says, you are causing the fuel pump to "prime" the line prior to start, allowing it to fire right up like normal.

If it is taking longer to start after its warm, (from about 15 min after shutdown to about an hour+ after shutdown) then it may be a bad check valve in the fuel pump. After some research (because I have the same issues as you currently), I found lexus uses a check valve in the fuel pump body itself. You can't replace the check valve that is in the fuel pump, it is built in.

If you still have the problem after replacing the regulator, you will have to replace the fuel pump at some point unless you want it to grind down your starter or will have to 'prime' it for easier starts.

Replacing the fuel pressure regulator helped zero out my fuel trims, but it still struggled to start when warm. When I did the 'prime' procedure Ljekses mentioned, it would fire up like normal.

Right now i am in the process of replacing the fuel pump itself, which sucks, because this is the first time in years the fuel trims are where they should be....zero. (my fuel pump is working, but the check valve in it is not, and the pressure leaks down after about 40 min). It's just good enough to not have any codes and passes a fuel pressure system test, but bad enough to cause the hard starting issues.).

Anyway, if you decide to replace just the regulator, then don't reseal the tank pump cover until after you test the starting when warm, 40 min after shutdown, overnight, etc... a few times, as you may need to go back in to change the fuel pump to get this fixed.
