Default Loose engine hood latch

I have a question. On my 2011 Lexus the hood is slightly loose when you press down on it. I checked the rubbers and tried to adjust it, but the hood is still loose when you press down on it. My mechanic also tried to adjust the rubber hood holders on the sides but still makes a clicking sound when you press on the hood. How to fix this? It's fine when you drive, no noise. Maybe I need new rubber holders?

It's probably normal. My 2010 does the same thing. More than likely the hood latch has some up/down play in it as you wouldn't want the latch to engage so tightly that it would be hard to open/close the hood. I seem to remember my Avalon did this too, as well as other cars I've owned... can't really remember as it wasn't something I was really concerned with. Go visit a Lexus dealer and push down on a few hoods to see it they move. If they do, maybe that'll give you some piece of mind. If they don't move, since you're there, talk to the service/mechanic guys to see if they can help.

Thanks. Ya I went to the Lexus dealership and the technician checked it out and said it was fine. So that's a relief.

Mine goes down 2-3 mm so it’s normal.
