Burning smell...
Haven't had any serious issues with my car for 10 years now.
Don't know if this is serious or not, but would like input from anyone here who might know
what this symptom might be indicative of.
About a week ago I started noticing a burning smell inside my car (like a burning candle).
When I park my car in my garage the smell quickly fills my garage.
It takes around two or three minutes for the smell to be noticed when the car is started
and then it becomes very strong. Scary strong.
I've booked an appointment at my Lexus dealer but wanted to know in advance what
to expect.
It's a 2007 ES-350
TIA!

It's difficult to determine a smell from a post but the usual areas would be oil , antifreeze , wires/electrical , rubber or something on the exhaust. So pick your smell and try to narrow it down. Look for leaks under the car .Also is it from the front , middle or rear of the car. Is it outside or inside the car. Do some more investigations.

The dealer is more than 30 minutes away unfortunately.
Today I learned a little more. The smell is coming from the outside, which explains why my garage fills with the smell so quickly.
I put my nose to the hood area that meets the windshield, the crack opening there, and it was very noticeable there.

Today I went to the dealer and they discovered a bag stuck to the muffler. Or what was left of it.
They tried to scrape it off but the car still smells from time to time. They said it might last until the springtime.
I'm glad it wasn't anything major.
