Default Trading in 2006 GS300 for 2010 ES350

My 2006 GS300, with 176,700 miles, needs a transmission. So my local Lexus dealer is giving me $4000 for the car on a trade in for a 2010 ES350 Ultra with 47,000 miles for $16,795.

What are the typical problems with the 5th Gen ES?

Sidney

There aren't any, at least not on ones after 2009. Waterpumps on earlier ones, but haven't seen an issue on later ones and same goes for weird shifting transmissions. Dad has a 2012 and its way more comfortable than my 2006 GS.

We’ve had ours since new and have had no problems whatsoever. It has 47000 miles on it and looks like new. $16,795 seems a little steep to me! Trade value on it is only around $12K! Seems like a very hefty markup. But, it also looks like they are giving you a nice over allowance on your GS so it’s probably a wash.

I bought my 07 used in 2013 with 44k on it now has 188k
at 75k had the waterpump replaced and at 101 the alternator went out.
other than that no other majur repairs where needed service contract took care of them both payed 100 deductible and no more issues since.
however keep in mind i have done regular recommended service maintenance at a rate that is sooner than what lexus Recommends on most items.
spark plus replaced at 100k transmision fluid change every 60k power steering and brake fluid done every 40k coolant at 75k intervales and thats just how i do stuff on all cars i own.

I got it last Saturday. They just would not budge off of that 16,795 price. But it's cool. The GS was falling apart. I didn't know how rough it was until I drove the ES for the last 6 days. The power in the ES is way much more than the GS. The ride is much more comfortable. I just have to get used to the smaller cabin space. The last owner obviously didn't cut the sat feed. I have been enjoying that these past few days. I also like how the lights turn when I am turning.

One thing I do need to find out from you guys. How do I turn off the seat belt alarm. I did it in my GS and I need to do it in the ES.

Nice Thanksgiving present for yourself. The easiest way for you at this point in time is to go back to the dealer and ask them to change the seat belt alarm to off. For legal purposes they may not do it. Your other options are to get yourself either Carista or Techstream. I personally use Carista but I bought mine when there was no subscription fees. Techstream is the cheapest way but the more complicated process. Do a search of this forum for each and you will find many threads that reference both.
