Default RPM Flare/Spikes

Having an issue I think with the car shifting gears, more so when its a cold start but sometimes its not. So in the morning leaving out of an apartment complex low speed of course and going over a few speed bumps. When I give the car gas sometimes the RPM will rev high then car will shift no jerks or rough shift change though. So even when the car is warm in parking lots similar situation can happen, no way to tell when it will happen I just expect for it to happen. Its not everyday that this happens but its not normal by any means.

So I was going down hill not a steep decline in a parking lot and gave the car gas and it RPM went high again, the best way to describe it is basically putting the car in neutral and pressing the gas. I should note that it doesn't happen everyday either but want to get this taken care of before it gets worse. Is this something a local mechanic can resolve or best left for the Lexus techs$$$$$$$$....?

That’s reserved for Lex techs. You can search for shift flare.

There are 3 ways to fix:

1. Reflash the tranny
2. Change the valve body
3. Replace the whole tranny

i am a bit confused are you saying htat you have to do those 3 things to fix it ?
since i never drove the car all last winter with the airbag recal and the loaner they gave me i never had a reason to have it looked at i am not waiting until it gets cold enough out so that i start noticing the flare again i know its their but its not cold enough yet to be a issue then ill take it to the dealer.
for my 07 ES350
how much will it probably cost for me to have the transmission frelashed ? are we talking like several hundred dollars? or just an hour of labor on a computer ?

Ok cool thank you
do you have any idea what the cost of the reflash would probably be is it like several hours of programing or is it mor elike a quick 30 minute or 1 hour computer flash wondering if i need to worry about one hour of labor at my dealer wich is 115.00 or will i end up paying like 300 or 400 to have it reflashed
thank you.

The infamous ES-up-shift-flare On my '07 it happens only once when I start driving with the cold tranny. After the first flare it doesn't happen again until the car had the cold soak overnight...

I went to the dealer today for the transmission shift flare problem
they looked at the car hooked it up to the computer they have and said that I have the current programs latest software available
they did transmissions flush and it made the shifting better however still had an issue so then contacted my service contract company
the dealer said that it seems like a Transmission Clutch issue that I am having
and the service contract company is probably going to send out a used transmission to have put in
the dealer did not charge me for anything they did today and are not going to charge me for the fluid flush because the contract company considers that to be regular maintenance and since I alway do my maintenance they are not going ot charge me for that.
now the contract company said it will take them 24 hours to decide what they are going to do weather it is request the dealer to tear down the transmission to prove it is what they think it is or send out a used or rebuild trans or have the dealer put in a new transmission that's what I'm waiting to find out now.
