Default program garage opener failed

I just bought new lexus ES 350,
pressed the HomeLink button, and it lit up in the rear view mirror. when I press and hold my garage opener transmitter, the home link does not flash faster or to green as indicated by the manual.

I am not sure it is the problem of my garage opener model: MaratecM that is that problem.

I had a hell of a time getting my homelink to program to our garage door. I actually gave up, when my other(better) half decided to give it a go. Apparently it was all about patience. It took almost 60 seconds of pressing/holding the buttons (not 20 seconds as some directions claim) for the connection/linking to happen. We also had to hold the garage door opener right next to the homelink button/area.
