Default Mileage vs. Age of Tire...

What would you say for a Garage Queen driver as to how often tires should be replaced since mileage is not the issue here?

Most manufactures recommend 6 years from the build date. You can find the build date on the side wall of the tire. You should also do a visual inspection for cracks and lumps which indicate abnormal tire failure. Also besides checking the side walls look into the tread for cracks or other damage. Another consideration is where the car or tires have been stored. If in a temp. controlled garage then they should not be a problem.

Since you're in Illinois and not exposed to harsh sun, I would inspect regularly for cracks or dry rot but would think you could go 7-8 years
