Default 2012 LED DRLs

Hello - I have a 2012 and dislike the wimpy DRLs. I found the customization menu where I can disable them. I want to install the Chinese LEDs that go by the fog lights.

Has anyone installed these particular lights? I can see the installation instructions and it seems fairly simple, but I'm curious if they will function as DRLs with the hi beam DRLs disabled. Will the LED controller box take care of that? I guess I could always pay somebody to do it! Thanks

Okay. I'll answer my own question. Found a diagram somewhere that shows a blue wire coming from the controller box that attaches to the positive wire of the low beam headlight. That shuts the DRL off when the headlight is on. The other wires simply attach to the battery.

BTW - these lights cost about $100 for the pair incl shipping.

Where did you get these? Do they have them for the 07/08 models? I'm diggin' them, a neat retrofit for those of us without the cool Lexus built in headlight LEDs.

I'm not sure if they have them for 07/08. It's a different bumper as far as I know.

I ordered them at AliExpress.com. You could try searching for them there.

These look good. Thanks for the tip. I may even have them stay on all the time.

I think I agree. The color should match the HIDs pretty well.

I bought these and wired them to the DRLs but always wanted to disable the Stock dingy DRL and just wire these LEDs directly. Did you find a wiring diagram that shows what the wires that come out of the controller are (colors)? I want to wire the lights to come on when the car is on (not associate with the DRL). I imagine that I won't need to use all of the wires that come out of the controller but with no reference I don't want to start guessing and blow the LEDs. Thanks

Hmmm. Not sure how many wires you have coming out of the controller, but the ones I've seen only had 3. The directions I saw had a red and black wire connecting directly to the battery terminals. The 3rd wire could be connected to the low beam positive wire if you wanted the LEDs to turn off when the headlights are on.

Installation at the bottom of this page.

Now I see others with more "complicated " wiring. Maybe that's what you have. Not sure about those.

I finally got around to looking at the set of these I installed and the wire colors are red, black, white and yellow. I have the red to positive and black to ground and that doesn't light them. Any ideas where the yellow and white wires need to be wired other than the DRL (bright light wires) wires?

Try to connect the red and the black directly on battery.

Tried that and they will not light up. I had the yellow and white wired to the DRL wires and they worked. I have since turned off the DRL lights and removed the yellow and white wires. I'm trying to find out how to make them work independent of the DRL. I cannot find a wiring diagram for these lights so not sure how to wire these without using the DRL wires (yellow and white).

You want them to work when the engine is on?

Then just find one of the wires that has +12V when the engine is on.

Finding the 12 volt source is easy, what I'm asking is if anyone knows how to wire the actual LED light wires to the 12v. There are 4 wires coming out of the resistor box for the LEDs. The wires are as follows: red, black, yellow and white. I've tried using just the red and black but that doesn't light them up. At one point I had the white and yellow wired to the DRL and the LEDs worked. I have since reworked the headlights and needed to turn off the DRL so I need to find a way to rewire the LEDs to work independently of the DRL.
