2008 ES350 write off?
well this just happened on Friday afternoon...

Crumpled the trunk, underbody, exhaust & looks like a crimp above the gas cap. One tail light cracked. the car just rolled 200K km that day. Estimated worth ... Do you think it's done? Calling insurance company tomorrow. |
|
I'd say good chance of a total there. Around a year ago I got hit by a Cherokee and the body shop I dropped it off at estimated around 7k damage. Turned out to be totalled. The rear end can be expensive to fix- especially with parking sensors.
Although it doesn't look terrible, the other vehicle tells a different story. Hope everyone is ok! |
With that crimp on the c-pillar area, it's totaled. That's structural damage and I wouldn't want it back even if they claimed they could fix it. There's probably frame damage, too.
|
The picture #2 shows the sign of a structural damage. If you can prove it to insurance company it would most likely be totaled.
|
You shouldn't have to prove anything to the insurance company. If you don't want the car back ask the insurance company to buy it off you. In cases where major damage has occurred most will gladly buy the car back because of the hassle of repairing it and most estimates also come in way under what the repair bill will really be.
I've personally done this. The only catch is they may not provide a rental for the standard two weeks. Only up to when the purchase goes through. Of course, rules differ from province to province. Good luck! |
Probably going to be totaled, but the good part is that you'll get the retail value +taxes for your car. So they don't pay the trade-in/private party value, but the full retail price of what it would cost you to get a similar car at the dealership.

Update
Well insurance called this am. It a write off. Offered me $10k. Asked for their appraisers report, going to try & up that as I had a few major repairs & a complete detail done recently.
Wish me luck! |
124,000 miles and they only want to give $10,000? Pft. Tell them to check the market for the average price of an equivalent of ES350s and to change their price. Should be $12,000-13,000.
|
10k doesn't sound that bad considering the number or kms on it. However, don't rely on the insurance company to do the legwork. If you want more money you will have to provide the proof. Look for comparables in your neighborhood and provide links, articles etc. Basically you have to say, "Look, it going to cost me around $xx to get a car comparable to the one I lost. Here's the proof..."
What was the trim level? |
