Question Q: 2013+ Steering whell on 2007-2012 ES Models?

Managed to find an old thread about how hot or cold the ES350 wooden steering wheels are with no real good solution.

So as the title states, is it possible to get a 2013+ Lexus ES350 steering wheel and install it on the 2007-2012 model years so that we can have the heated steering wheel feature? It's really cold here in Toronto this week!

Its probably possible...but at great cost.

Bear in mind the steering wheel itself is probably $2,500+. Then you need the airbag, $1,000+. Then you need to somehow wire the switch, the button is on the dash not the wheel. Then you need to hope all the connectors are the same. Get my point?

The heated wheel isn't great. It only heats the 3 and 9:00 positions, not the whole circumference of the wheel as most manufacturers do.

I'd buy a set of awesome gloves for $150 and call it a day.

we did this similar swap on the cadillac Seville SLS STS Deville DTS DHS And base the Steering wheels from 1998-2000 on the seville change din 2001 and on the Deville changed from 2000-2001 but some of us liked the look better on the 2001-2005 model wheel and there was some intense wireing that needed to be done for the Audio Climate and Cruise Control
but if you know what your looking at and have a service manual and can find out what wires go to what feature it can be done its just time consuming
we also wanted to switch because of heated option on the 2004-05 dts
i know where talking cadillaac and lexus 2 different beasts here but the point im makeing is yes it can be done it should bolt right up to the steering colume just fine
but its not cheap
i think i spent around 500 dollars for a used steering wheel in 2005 and 500 on the airbag
you can probably find a used steering wheel but go with a new airbag but its going to cost so you gota think is it worth it for you ?

And the parts for the Lexus are going to be a lot more than for the Cadillac, and these wheels aren't going to be so plentiful yet on the used market...

Thanks for your input. I figured it was going to be extremely costly and highly challenging to get a swap.

Sad to hear that that the heated steering wheel is only at the 9 and 3 positions! Who drives like that these days?

another idea is there are placed that take alal leather stearing wheels and customiz them into wood grain
im sure you can go to a interior shop that does rewraping and they could put it in at the 3 and 9 where the leather is that would heat
or maybe you could have the wood rmeoved and full leather wraped wheel

This might sound like a cheaper option. Now I got to find an interior automotive shop in the Greater Toronto Area. Not sure where to start looking yet.

google Auto upholstery id think that a good majority of the ones that are worth there name would know someone or someplace that would do it if they dont want to themselves
the shop i go to down here in FL
the guy doesn't do anything with steering wheels he hates them the most because of the stitching that has to go into them lol

you could give a call down here to JM Lexus JM Custom Creations ask for Bobby The Director tell him that Ross Sent you his way
one of his guys might be able to do something like that
i know that when ever there are issues with damaged steering wheels his guy is one of the best people at fixing them and Lexus ops to send alot of them to him to have fixed instead of replacing them all the time from what hes told me he has dealers across the country that send him wheels when the wood cracks on them
