Default 2007 ES 350 Nav DVD access

I've read numerous posts, threads, and internet answers that says, in order to access/eject the NAV DVD, you simply take the plate below the screen, (Marked LEXUS), and slide it up and pop it off. Then, you can go to the menu and eject the DVD. Most say that they can simply place their thumb nails on the bottom of the Lexus name plate and push up.

OK; point is, I have ZERO thumb nails long enough to work. But before I go using a knife, blade, screw driver, etc... to try and pry/lift the name plate, I want to make sure it definitely is suppose to go UP then pop off. I've tried thumb pressure trying to slide the name plate UP without any success. I just want to make sure before I go further. I don't want to crack/chip/break the name plate.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

BUMP:

As I said; I can't seem to get the "Lexus" cover off to reveal where the Nav DVD disk is. I have no finger nails to speak of. Before I go trying to "PRY" off/up the cover, I want to ensure that the cover does in fact need to go straight up. I also want to make sure I don't chip or crack the "Lexus" cover. Any thoughts, input, or experience would be appreciated. Thanks.

OK I just went outside to triple check after seeing your post. You do indeed pry UP towards top of dash. Good luck

Thanks. I found another post on a different forum with a similar issue. (I guess too many of us chew our finger nail). LOL. What the individual did was use a credit card to pry in the slit between the cover and the buttons below it. And then he pulled up on the credit card. I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks for checking into it.

The suggested procedure worked like a champ. For anyone who is interested in removing the LEXUS plate below the nav screen and is having difficulties, this procedure is simple.

Take an old credit car, membership card, or similar construction. Put width wise in the slit between the lexus plate and the buttons below it. Simple twist of the credit/membership card to provide an upward pressure on the plate. The plate slides up very simply. So much easier than trying to slide fingers on the plate and slipping off and hitting the touch screen.

This method is almost "Too Easy". Almost like a plastic card should be an official tool. Anyway; hope this helps anyone else needing to remove the lexus plate so they can upgrade the nav dvd.

For a 2008, can you just buy the DVD and install it yourself, rather than needing to pay a Lexus Tech to perform the upgrade? I just bought the car and I live in a part of town with new construction, so there are a lot of roads not showing up on my map. I might be willing to pay the $170 if it gets too frustrating for me with the current setup.

Yes, with 2007-2009 models you can install the DVD yourself.

2010+ with the hd system need to be installed at a dealership.
