09 ES350 Transmission issues
In Sept '12 I took my 09 ES350 to the dealer with a shift problem. The car would shudder when changing from 1st to 2nd gear at low speed. At the time they reflashed the transmission and the problem seemed to go away.
Lately the problem has come back. My car is 3 months outside the CPO extended warranty and I just passed 81000 miles. I revisited the dealer and it would cost $5000 plus to have the tranny completely replaced. Conveniently, the dealer has no record of a possible pre-existing condition that I had last year.
My dealer consulted Lexus corporate and they will meet me halfway with parts expenses but not labor. It did not take much for them to acknowledge there is a problem. It seems ridiculous to be facing a complete transmission replacement at 81k. Any recommendations?
