factory amp location
i am brand new to this site, but pretty experienced with forums... on the 4th of just i bought my 4th ( and nicest to date ) Lexus... its an 08 es 350 pearl white and certified preowned.... pretty sweet.
anyways, i looked on the forum and Google search with no luck, the location of the factory amp location. im wanting to add a sub and amp, which i know i could just tap off the factory sub, but also wanted to change the factory sub and install an 8 inch pro audio speaker for better mids and run off the other side of my 4 channel amp. im guessing the factory sub has a xover, so i am needing some full range inputs for the pro audio speaker. instead of pulling door panels and all that, i just figured i can tap off the factory and and be done with it... does anyone know where the factory amp is located? i haven't looked for it yet but thought someone on here would know where it is... thx in advance |
It is located in the trunk, passenger side. I tapped the front speakers' connections when putting in my sub using vampire taps.

Anyone who thinks they need the wiring diagram, I have it, and can probably give you the wire colours you need. |
It isn't on the floor, it is bolted to the side brace for the trunk mechanism. If I recall I had to pull the plastic piece from the lower trunk lip but I too have the wiring colors around here somewhere...

So do you have to lift up the carpet to access the amp? I haven't made the attempt to look yet.

I personally pulled from the front speakers for a sub and it has full range, might want to consider that off you ever want a simple tap point for a full range amp

Front Left + Pink
Front Left - Purple (Violet) Front Right + Light Green Front Right - Light Blue I used vampire taps directly at the output of the amplifier in the trunk. I initially was silly and just shoved wires into the plug, but they came loose. All four of these colors are on one plug. If I find my other install notes, I'll share. Let me know if you run into trouble. |
