Default Need help identifying a trim, also is it repairable?

I purchased a preowned 2011 ES 350 a few weeks ago, working through on detailing it now. I'm stuck on an interior trim though and have no idea how to fix this without replacing the entire unit.

I scavenged around the internet a little bit and I think I found the part number, it's the left/driver side armrest trim, part #74240-33110-E1. Thing is, it's over $500-800 for the part alone if I want to replace this (if that is the correct part number)!

Everything else is in perfect condition, just the chrome paint/clear coat. What should I do ?

Thanks!

there is a discount for CL members

that being said , do a search for trim repair/rechroming, i recall seeing a thread with all sorts of places that do such "rechroming", i'd search for u but have a bit of a time crunch

Just so you know, there is actually a TSB on this issue from Lexus. (I don't have the # though)
It deals with the issue of the chrome on the door controls starting to peel.
The dealer action is to replace the chrome on all 4 doors with "upgraded" chrome pieces.

How do I know this?
I have a 2010 and my car interior is well taken care of. The chrome on my driver door started to get rough feeling looking like some solvent spilled on it. I didn't spill anything on it in reality.

When I brought it to my dealer...he said "Yup, there's a bulletin on that".
I would have said just replace the 1 on the driver door and he said why bother doing only 1 as it will eventually happen on the other 3 doors anyway. They replaced them all under warranty.

Did you buy it "preowned" from a dealer ?
If so, perhaps they can help you out on the issue so it doesn't cost you anything.

Really, how do I go about asking the dealership about this? I'm not sure what TSB is, is it similar to a recall?

I purchased mine from a different dealership/non-Lexus, however it's still on the original factory b2b warranty.

A TSB stands for a Technical Service Bulletin.
It's a Toyota/Lexus company service document that deals with a problem in their cars that is NOT safety related.
RECALLS deal with Safety issues.

By the way, i did find the actual TSB number for the issue.
It is TSB# L-SB-0048-11

In any case, if you need to buy the chrome trim pieces, the part numbers for all 4 doors are as follows:

74236-33020
74235-33020
74276-33030
74275-33030

Good luck.

I didn't like it when Lexus added the chrome surround in 2010 and it's been nothing but problems for Lexus and owners ever since. You are not the first one to have this issue, hence the TSB. IMHO, the plain wood trim used in '07-'09 looks a hellofalot better and certainly stands up to use better. Again, IMHO, the chrome trim cheapens the look.

Moving from a 2007 with the cashmere colored interior to the 2011 with cashmere colored interior, I welcomed the slight differences (bling). But I am watching the trim for any blemishes as it ages.

Should have said "parchment" colored interior. Been spraying a slight mist of Windex when cleaning the interior doors, nothing as of yet.

Thanks a lot ! I'll contact the dealership and see if it's repairable under warranty.

Just a spritz on that trim after I wash the interior side of the windows, no soaking. Been doing it since 2011 and I inspected the chrome / wood, not a sign of a pit or discoloration whatsoever.

Just an update, I brought it to the dealership and asked about TSB# L-SB-0048-11

They replaced all 4 trims (even though the other 3 were flawless) for free under warranty . Thanks so much NJLEXES!
