One thing I don't do is a Mickey Mouse job when it comes to working on or having work done on anything I own. I don't not use a wrench or torque the oil filter housing when replacing the oil filter, not to save time, but because IMO, it's totally unnecessary. I lube the gaskets with vasoline and hand tighten. That method had worked on both my Lexus vehicles for four years now, and I'm not about to change. You may do what you want, but I am stating an opinion that works. Please don't insinuate that I am doing a sub standard job.

Holy mackeral lowrideraz........you need to get a thicker skin. I wasn't even directing my last post at you. You are not the only poster in this thread. It was actually someone else's post that concerned me. You appear to have the AST Toy 640 adaptor so even your "hand tighten" is/has been supplying enough torque to prevent the cap from loosening. Generally, there is some basic engineering (reasons) involved when a manufacturer requires or recommends a torque value. I worked for 35 years in an industry where engine oil filters (spin-on, and canister types, not unlike the one here) were also "safetied" (usually with lockwire) as an extra measure to prevent loosening. One never wants an oil filter to loosen and leak.

Thanks for that RAV4 link, I just ordered 10 OEM filters with the gasket for 47, which includes free shipping and for me, no tax. Not bad...

Thanks. I end up buying the oil filter from toyota. Went there and asked for a 2007 V6 camry.

I assumed its the same one. I look at some generic oil filters on autozone and both cars seem to have same part number for oil filter.

Can somebody confirms it is the same?

I just got my 10 genuine filters from dahls toyota for $47 via ebay. They do include 10 gaskets so I paid 4.70 each for the filter and gasket. at my local toyota dealer, they charge 6.99 for each filter plus $1.30 for the gasket. With tax, this is almost half off!
