Just Bought A Used ES 350

Hi guys, I am relatively new here and this is my first Lexus. Unfortunately, I'm having a pretty bad experience right now. I just bought the car from a private dealer a week ago. It's a 2007 Lexus ES and there was a check VSC control light on and the dealer said they would fix it before I buy it. After they claimed they "fixed" it, we bought the car and drove home. Everything seemed fine until after 10 minutes later, the check VSC light came back on again. We went back and asked the dealer to fix it and they checked the car again and said the sensor was broken. They told us to return in a few days after they order the parts to fix it. I went back today and they told me I have to pay $2,000 for the repair. Is there anything I can do at this point to make them pay for something that they claimed they will?

Do you have their agreement to fix the light in writing?

Unless it's in writing, you're probably in a tough position. It doesn't sound like the dealer is willing to fix it per your discussions.

It sounds like you know what the problem is, you might try checking with and independent shop, a Toyota dealer (same engine as the Camry V6) or even a Lexus dealer to see what they'd charge for the fix.

The thing is the check SVC light was gone after they claimed that they fixed it and since I thought the problem was fixed, I didn't ask for or got anything in writing. Without any physical documentation, I don't really have any options?

Lexus dealer?
If so,that's bad business.
In fact that's bad business with any dealer.Sounds like a used car lot issue..

Unfortunately yes. Always get everything in writing.

Was there any type of 30 day warranty given?

Hi Jeffster,

Do you know what kind of a sensor that needs to be replaced? The $2,000 price tag seems very high.
