Default Installing Factory Navigation

Hello,

I looked and was not successful in finding a post for this. I am looking to add the factory navigation system to my car after purchasing 2009 ES350.

What components do I need besides the head unit and camera? Is the nav disk a separate unit? Can this be done? Is the car pre wired? Any advise would be great.

It's going to be mighty expensive. Ebay motors has a OEM unit, prewired to fit non navigation cars for $2,800 plus $25 for shipping. Includes the antenna and I think the camera too. More $$ for the installation of everything that goes with the head unit. After its all said and done, probably a real cost close to $3,500.

Thanks for the response. I have means to get the parts cheaper if I can figure out exactly what I need for installation in a non oem car.

Rosen makes an aftermarket Navi unit that looks factory for these. They cost $6-800 or thereabouts.

If I was looking for an in dash NAV,I'd go that route but I've read on some after market systems, the steering wheel buttons don't work for the radio and climate control. How true that is,I don't know.

I use a standard Toyota steering wheel control adapter from Pacific Audio Corp (PAC) in my '07 ES-350. It works great. Metra / Axxess has a similar adapter that I've used in a Toyota Corolla. Both were connected to Pioneer head units.

It's more work but cheaper if have a standard radio and want NAV to go with a double DIN head unit. You also get a lot more features. I have an SD card reader, USB, DVD and iPod/iPhone control from the head unit. The newer models have the same plus Bluetooth audio control to any smart phone that supports that feature.

Check out mobile electronic magazine they advertise a factory style unit for Lexus/Toyota vehicles. This unit has everything including reverse camera and nav.

These work with the steering wheel controls.

Check on Alibaba, aftermarket ones from China are usuall $4-500 shipped. Only downside is that they don't work with XM all the time. The good thing is that you can use them while the car is moving, and they have all sorts of neat features.

A used Factory setup could cost you $2,000.
