Soft brake pedal
Have a 2007 ES350 (49,000 miles) and have been experiencing a soft brake pedal for the last year or so. Have had it in to the dealership and they've examined and flushed the brakes as well and say everything is fine.
Brakes function but I'm having to push the brake harder than I recall doing in the first several years of ownership. With the car running I can push the brake to nearly an inch off the floor. Just doesn't feel right to me.
Anyone else have this issue and get it solved?

I just got a 07 CPO es350 with 44000 miles on it and I am experiencing the same thing. My wife was digging in her purse while in line at a drive thru and the car crept and tapped another car(no damage). I though she just wasn't paying attention until I was at a red light and noticed the car creeping. The brakes feel engaged but I still have to push a bit harder for them to completely stay stopped.

I have an '07 ES350 with 23,000 miles and after the brake fluid was changed per maintenance the pedal is softer but it wont go near to the floor. Something isn't proper with yours. That seems to me to be a safety problem. If the dealer wont do anything I would contact Lexus and explain the problem. Good Luck!!

Should I take this to the dealer or will they just tell me its normal?

Just an FYI on this issue..........still have the soft pedal and dealer says it is within tolerance so I've been driving with the soft pedal since the original post .......maybe 8000 miles since. Have had no braking problem but the softness hasn't improved or deteriorated further. Not the feel you'd expect from a higher quality brand.

Have a 2008 rx 350 with 60,000 miles and new brakes and still soft pedal, has to be a desigin problem!
Any help out there, also I'm the one who found out about the cooler hose problem a year ago.
There now is a recall out for this.

I think they all have soft pedal, and I like it to be honest.

I had my brake fluid flushed and they regreased the caliper slides; helped quite a bit if I recall. My issues weren't nearly this bad; more of just torn up rotors due to these 2 issues (vibration upon brake application.)

A soft peddle can be caused by either a leak in the master cylinder or air in the brake system or leaking calipers. If the problem begins after a brake fluid flush then they did not get all of the air out of the system. If it is a leaking MC it is hard to tell unless you see fluid coming out of the MC.

hi all, i have a similar soft brake pedal, this has happened in the last year or so...brakes still work well. It does tend to firm up after a few minutes to an extent..this leads me to think that it might be a master cylinder? i don't see any leakage tho...although I haven't been under the car in a while.
Thanks

I've had my car serviced by the dealer multiple times for vibration - the pedal does get softer over time during this. Typically resurface the rotors and regrease the slides. I've asked them why I'm in so often to get the calipers regreased; the last visit they ensured me that they used better grease on the slides. Seems to be common...
Short version - caliper slides get dry, stop sliding - brake pedal then takes more effort to stop as the brakes aren't applying evenly, which leads to warped rotors.
I've got a new set of rotors and brakes for the rear sitting in my garage and am going to service them myself (slides) next oil change. Will keep everyone posted.
