so much for rising pre owned prices

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/ctd/2470925660.html

look at the lexus dealer scammers.. One of my friends was in a lexus dealer ship and casually spoke to the sales mgr.. they were chatting and the mgr told him that due to the japan nuclear issue. US found radioactive levels in paint on some new cars. hence there is a shortage. and the price of pre owned lexuses are going up.. any car manufuctured there is.
that is ALL BS.. ha ha. prices are . following the usual curve.. falling.. as usual..

pl dont believe any hype. so easy it must be for all the national lexus dealers to silently agree to a price hike.. since we all shop around. and if everyone raises prices. we get that confirmed. and tend to believe..

What exactly is your point? Used vehicle prices in general are higher today than last year, that's a fact, not a conspiracy theory! With the miles this car has on it it should probably retain in the $16's based off book value!

jkutti2000 07-05-11 11:17 AM

point is simple. but dont want to sound like a troll. in US, there is deflation and less demand. even though lexus dealers are trying to raise pre owned prices.. prices are falling. period.

There are threads on this forum talking about the increase in pre-owned prices, specifically at Lexus dealerships, due to the low inventory of new cars coming in from Japan. That situation should clear up as normal production levels resume, but for now pre-owned prices should remain high. Supply and demand.

I certainly can't speak for the entire country but there is plenty of demand for Lexus where I am!

It's not just Lexus pre-owned that are up. It's all pre-owned vehicles in general. This is a known fact and been written about by many people.

Here's just one article:

If you're worried about price, just keep the one you have. I feel like the one I have will last me till I'm 50 Y/O if I really want to keep it. (I'm 34 now). :)

I saw mine in the parking lot at work today as the sun set and I had to admire it for just a moment. After four whole years plus a couple months it still looks great and better then a lot of new junk on the road... No offense to anyone who's traded in their '07 already but I have to ask why?

LexBob2 07-06-11 06:55 PM

I traded in an '07 for a '10 for a variety of reasons - Mainly because I like to get a new car every 4 years or so. My '07 was real early build (4/06) and was problem free during the 4 years I owned it. It was so good I got another one. I liked the small changes/updates that were made to the 2010 model. Added all together the small changes made the car even better, IMO.

Lexus Used Car Prices

One thing to mention. I haven't really researched my local Lexus dealer for current CPO prices etc, but was in there a week ago. Currently they have 14Lexus vehicles in inventory. Normally over 130. Japan earthquake ripple effect still haunting them. Plus that new small hybrid car they've been advertising for months. Salesman mentioned only about a dozen in the entire east coast network of dealers. Forget the vehicle name. 40+mpg. So that could have alot to do with prices

Looks like Japan is about to get hit with Typhoon Ma-on, hope it doesn't further damage a recovering nation!
