2007 ES350, Upgrade Nav System
Recently purchased a 2007 ES350 and got the latest upgrade for the NAV system. It seems to be a big secret about where the old disk is located and how to swap it out. Different posts that I've seen say that it's under the rear seat; in the trunk; under the front seat; and in the dash. I called a local Lexus dealer that I've used for other service and the service rep told me that it's "behind the radio, it takes a "special tool" to get it out and it's very complicated". They want about $90 on top of the $199 purchase price to do the work. That info didn't pass the "smell test" and they may have lost a customer forever, depending on what the truth is.
I found this Forum and a good thread that says that the Nav disk is accessed by removing the plastic cover at the bottom of the Nav screen. Is that correct and what is the best way to remove that cover without breaking it or marring the plastic? Any help/tips/info greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Les.

The computer is located beneath the screen. There is a panel that should say "Lexus" on it that you have to remove. I think it just pops off. Maybe someone else can chime in that's done it before.

correct offroad. there is a plastic panel with "Lexus" on it just below the NAV screen. put your finger nails under it and pop it out. The NAV DVD goes in here. Forget that dealer, they are ripping you off. also buy the disc online and not from the dealer.

I just replaced my nav disk on my ES350. It's very simple. The plastic panel with "LEXUS" on it snaps off with upward pressure and just snaps back down into place when you're done. I would think twice about purchasing the disk from a source other than Sewell. There have been cases where people have gotten bad disks with no recourse. You have a $40,000 car. Why sweat paying less than $200 for a new disk from Sewell?

Very easy to do
I bought a DVD off Amazon for I think $19.95, looks exactly like the older one, made by Denso for Toyota. The plastic piece does just slide up but it is very tight. i had to use a thin bladed knife to get it started. The only other thing was when I hit eject, the DVD did not come out far enough to remove it, so I had to eject and load maybe 5 times and it came out a little farther each time until I could finally grab it. Loaded new DVD and it works perfectly.
