Locating Speaker Wires
Where do you want to access? I know you can by the front tweeters, its full range there. Do you have base or levinson? I think you can also access in right side trunk near factory amp. I,ll get you the color codes for the wires when I get home. What are you dyi ing?
It's non-ML system and I'm tapping for speaker level connection for adding amp to additional sub. My best access is passenger side footwell. I think I found the speaker wire harness there but I don't know exactly which wires are for the front R/L +- to be tapped. There are the red, green, white, black wires with gray paint spots; there are also solid color pink, purple, blue. There are also thinner reds, and greens. Would appreciate if you can tell me the color codes, including the P Cont wire, if any. Thanks a lot for the reply.
Ok, here are the wire colors at the speakers
Front Tweeters:
Front Left + Pink
Front Left - Purple (Violet)
Front Right + Light Green
Front Right - Light Blue
(FYI - the signal travels from the amp in the trunk to the front tweeters and is a full range signal, but then is capped to the tweeter, and then travels on to the speakers in the door (uncapped to the door). So if you unplug the tweeter, then you will loose the signal to the front door woofer as well)
Center
+ Red
- White
Rear Door woofers (not a full range signal - only mid bass)
Left Rear + Brown
Left Rear - Yellow
Right Rear + Red
Right Rear - White
Subwoofer
Pair 1 + Green
Pair 1 - Black
Pair 2 + Red
Pair 2 - White
You should be able to find these wires anywhere from the amp in the trunk (its burried in the right rear quarter panel) to the speaker location - they must run down the door jamb channels (however I haven't looked for them there).
If you are adding an amp in the trunk, you might be best to tap into the wires you want as they come out of the amp. If I did it again, I would do this rather than tapping in at the front tweeters.
Hopefully this helps!
Jerry

Everything checks out Elex. I used the wires from the OEM amp in the trunk as you suggested. The additional amp has got plenty of real estate in the trunk too. Many thanks to you sir.
