2007 ES350 HIDs headlight issue

My passenger side HID headlight shuts off after both are turned on. Is it time for a new bulb? Any suggestions?

My passenger side shut off last night for the second time. I can get it to come back on by turning the lights off and back on, but something is wrong. Is this how HID's go bad, intermittantly?

About 3 months ago my left HID headlight started going out intermittently. It finally went out for good. I thought it might be the ballast or something electrical. But it turned out to be the bulb. The dealer replaced the bulb and now it works fine. It was covered under the factory warranty.

When I got my car the left bulb failed the same day....it would come back on for 5-10 min then finally after a few days it turned purple....so the dealer replaced the bulb for free.

Word of advice try to get dealer to replace both bulbs my left bulb is much brighter then my right bulb now.

It could be the ballast, but chances are it is the bulb. If it is the bulb, make sure to replace both bulbs at one time. Xenons must be replaced in pairs because of how they age.

Thanks for replying!

Hopefully its just replacing the bulb. I will get the ballast checked out. Thanks again.

How much is the bulb? I'm almost scared to ask...

Although I didn't pay for it, the cost for the bulb and installation at my dealer was $200.

I have 07 LS 470 My passenger head light goes out intimately and comes back on if the lights are turned off then back on. JUST LIKE LOTS OF OTHER LEXUS OWNERS. The last car that I owned and had this king of head light problem was on a 1938 Ford and I have had lots of cars since. Lexus makes fine automobiles I CURRENTLY have a total of 3 IN MY DRIVEWAY. I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND WHY LEXUS CANNOT POST A FIX FOR WHAT SEEMS TO BE TO COMMON A PROBLEM AND CERTINALLY A SAFETY ISSUE??? MIGHT BE THE BULB, MIGHT BE THE BALLEST, MIGHT BE THE WIREING, MIGHT ME THE SWITCH. IS JUST PLAIN UNACCEPTABLE

Just like your household bulbs, car bulbs die after certain # of hours in use. This is the case with any car as they all use the same bulbs, e.g. for HID D4S... By the sounds of it, your bulbs lasted 7 years! Be happy for that :) It works out to under ¢60/month ;)

My former Nissan Maxima and Mazda3 went through headlight bulbs once a year, so there are worse cars out there...

I had the same problem as my driver's side would go out but then come on again. I got a warning ticket. My mechanic switched the bulb to the other side to check to see if it was indeed the bulb.......it was. He replaced it for $127.

Is there a DIY on how to replace the bulbs.. I have one out but would gladly change it myself.. Down here in Atlanta, GA they're asking $255:egads: to change one bulb. I'd much rather do it myself. :ohyeah:
