Default 2010 ES How do I ...?

Just got my ES three weeks ago and have scanned the Nav manual and cannot find the answer to my questions:

1. While using the Navigation, how do I suspend the guidance? Once I know where I am going, for instance, going home, it is annoying to have the nav on and 'talking' to me. Can this be done while driving or will it be grayed out?

2. Also has anyone figured out how to override the 2010 ES nav features so that they are not grayed out and usable while driving? I don't want to start cutting wires...I mean by pushing a series of buttons perhaps?

Thanks in advance for your input.

For item 1 just press the destination button and then press delete destination. For item 2 you can not disarm the grayed out screen unless you screw with the speedometer wire. That is what causes the system to go to gray. After using the system for a few years I do not want to do this because it is to distracting. Almost a bad as texting. I know the "expert drivers" here will contest this but as usual they would be right until they cause/have their 1st accident. I find it easier to call the destination person and give them my info and let them download the directions. Works for me.

You can press the voice command button on the steering wheel and say, "Suspend guidance."

If you press delete destination, doesn't it remove it from your saved destinations?

No. Pressing delete does not take it out of your destination list.
