Let me start by saying I have been getting my folks the es every generation change and their 2007 had its first major issue. Let me also say outside of oil changes and me changing the air filter and brakes myself for them we never had any problems. my dad called and said low oil pressure light was on and i went there and thought no biggie probally just low a qt but 2,3,4,5! it was bone dry and when I started it oil was dripping out from under. As you might suspect the VVTI hose issue, they picked it up and got it back in a day and also did the pedal fix so all is good now. so if you have a 2007 es350 make sure you get it checked out!

 

This major problem has been talked about here on CL for months now. I had the recall done on my car before there were any problems. I had a feeling that I needed to get it done right away so I did. I can't believe that nobody noticed all the oil and smoke coming from your parent's car. Glad it worked out.

Let this be a warning to all. If you haven't had the fix done then do it now!

 

Unfortunately for you, there is lots of discussions on this recall (see below link), I too missed the recall notice and I had the car towed after big leak from the VVT-I hose but Lexus were very courteous.
