3rd party parts from EZ Lube
Okay... I must say, in this economy I am tempted to go a little cheap. My 30k mile service was due, and Lexus wanted to change oil, change transmission oil, change cabin and air filters, and charge me $530. I said no to transmission oil cus I plan to get that changed at 50k - 60k. EZ lube had a special... They showed me the aftermarket filters, which look the same but a bit softer. So I got my whole synthetic oil change plus filters changed for $123. Come 60k miles, when I have more money and the economy improves, I'll go for the whole Lexus service... maybe...

Good deal. Just remember - it's a Lexus with the heart of a Camry. We can get work done at other places than a Lexus dealer. Our local dealer service has that attitude so I can have it too. If I owned a LS460, well, you get treated / respected much better.

Never in a million years would I take my Lexus or Mercedes to a EZ Lube, a Jiffy Lube, or any of those other quick lube places in southern California after all the reports done by Joel Grover on Channel 4, KNBC in Los Angeles. But if I was price sensitive, I might instead take my Lexus to the local Toyota dealership. I would definitely consider getting the cabin filter from the Toyota dealer and installing it myself. That should save a bunch right there. But going back to the reports from Channel 4, I'm surprised the quick lube places still exist with all the fraud that Channel 4 keeps catching them engaging in.
The reality is if you are price sensitive and still want to keep the car at a Lexus dealer, then see if the auto service man is negotiable. If he isn't, take it to another dealer and try negotiating with them. I've found my guy at my local Lexus valley dealership to be fair.

The local toyota dealer refused to service my vehicle. I am thinking that EZ Lube and Jiffy Lube are more careful now after the news exposure. In fact, my local EZ Lube just recently put a large screen TV in the waiting area hooked up to cameras in the car port. You can see every little thing they do to your car while you wait. That's the kind of transparency we need to feel comfortable.

EZ Lube and Jiffy Lube have lost my business forever cuz of Joel Grover. I don't care how many steps they take to "improve" transparency. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Well, those two are on like #4.

I have a local family owned Gulf gas station where you can be right there in the bay watching them work on the car. In fact, I go and get the Mobil One oil from their storage room and bring it up to the car. Coffee / baked goods always there.
