Cabin air filter

Can someone tell me where this filter is and how to access it. I have just over 10k miles on my 07 ES and figure it is time for some cleaner air. Thought it was inside or behind the glovebox but apparently not. Thanks.

In the owners manual, under Air Conditioner Filter (I think that's it). It shows where it is (in the back of the glove box) and how to remove it. Good luck...

As a matter of fact, I just replaced mine last weekend.

At the back of the glove box, kind of off center to the left there is a black plastic cover.
You need to pop that cover off/out.

Right behind that is the clear color plastic housing tray which contains the actual cabin filter.
You have to release the latchs and the tray will then slide out.

Voila !!! There is the filter.
When placing the filter in, just keep in mind the filter will have "orientation arrows" showing which side faces up.

After that, just reverse the process.

In case you're interested, I got the filter at the Toyota dealer.
PART number is 87139-07010
Had to be cheaper than the lexus dealer.

Good luck and Happy Motoring !

How was your filter? Was it very dirty?

MD350 Jun 5, 2008 02:13 PM

After reading this thread, I just popped mine out. It is very dirty. Some leaves in there too. :eek2:I will be going to the part's department at my local Toyota dealer and pickin' me up a new one!

I just called the Toyota dealer, they want $59.95 at the walk up parts counter. Has anyone bought one any cheaper?

I've never looked at mine. Will put it on the agenda for tomorrow. $59.95 sounds high for a filter - But I'm cheap...

That price is way out of line - you must have told the dealer you want to put the filter into a Lexus! :egads: Tell 'em you need a filter for a 2007 Toyota Camry XLE V6 (uses same filter as the ES350), and they should charge you about $35. It's still a rip-off at $35, but not quite so bad. Note that most Toyota dealers, unlike the Lexus ones, mail out coupons every month - usually those will knock an additional 10% off of the price.

Cheaper Filters

You can buy cabin air filters on EBAY for less than $20. They are every bit as good as the pure Lexus filter. I bought two for around $30. Easy to replace. I replaced mine at 15miles and it was dirty.

No, I never mentioned Lexus.

I just called the next closest Toyota dealer. They have it in stock for $29.95. Much better.

Just installed the new filter. Easy as 1, 2, 3

I HIGHLY suggest everyone to check their filter if you have had your car for 1-2 years like me. I had no idea how dirty it was.

NJLEXES Jun 7, 2008 06:45 AM

Lexbob,

Mine was in my car for about 23k since new in July06.
It was kind of dirty ... although I believe the "lexus variant" of the cabin filter is a charcoal filter to cut down on odors.
This was the same in my old ES300 having a charcoal filter also.
This makes the filter kind of black even when new.

There was a fair amount of little leaves and such in the filter.
It was definitely about time to make the change to new filter.

To everyone else regarding price...the toyota dealer charged me $32 for the filter.

Auto Zone has the filter at $19.99.

Thanks...what brand filter is it? I know I paid a little more, but it is OEM (Toyota).
