Need power for radar

I usually run a wire from the fuse box to power my radar dector but with this car it is not practical. Has anyone spliced into the overhead console to get power for their detectors. If so how do you get the cover off without breaking something and what +12v wire did you use ( sun roof , aux. lights , garage door opener , ??). Also it appears that it would be easy to run the wire through the sunglass holder. Has anyone done this? Thanks

Jagtoes,

There is a good DIY on how to get the overhead console out. Yotacarfan included it with another write up. it's still on the main page at the bottom. it's called DIY: Iluminated garage door.........

Not to scare you, but it involves 2 screws and a pry bar. :)

HAHAHA , the pry bar doesn't bother me but the screws might. HAHA Thanks

It's the soldering iron that scares me!

My garage guy ran the direct power wire from the fuse box to just right of the rear view mirror without issue for my V1. The wire is tucked under the headliner edge where it meets the windshield and stretches from the drivers side. Don't know how he did it but it is direct wired.

Thanks I did this with my last car but have not looked at this option. Thank for letting me know someone else did this, I'll take a look and see if it is easier then playing with the overhead. Thanks

OK I ran the wire over the windshield in the edge of the headliner. Wend down the driver side A pillar and into a spare fuse. I used a mini fuse tap on a spare fuse that is hot when the ign is turned on. I need to get a better fuse tap because I can't get the fuse cover back on. I'll see what I can do. Thanks
