Moved the XM antenna
 

My only beef - and I know I'm OCD - with my wife's car was the obvious afterthought applied to positioning the XM antenna. How a premium manufacturer considers this a viable solution is a mystery to me. I mean, even GM does a better job on making this thing look like it belongs, as opposed to a bad idea dreamed up in poor taste.

Whew...I feel better now. :) Anyway, last night I moved the antenna from the right side of the trunk to the back-center. It was easier than I thought and only took 20 minutes from start to finish. The antenna did dig into the clearcoat a bit, so I still have some polishing work to do on the finish, but in reality I'm probably the only one who'd ever notice. :D

The antenna works just as well mounted inside the rear glass and, in my opinion, that's the only place where it looks good. Anything other than a sharkfin looks out of place on the exterior. Just my 2 cents.

Never mind your problems with the antenna! What I would like to know is the type of cell phone that took these high quality pictures? I want one!
I looked at the file size of the photo's you published and I don't know of any cellphone that has that many megapixels to give you such high resolution. :)

I have seen the satellite antenna painted to match the color of the car - makes it almost invisible.

I like the idea of installing the antena on the inside of the back glass. I'm not a big sharkfin fan.

I considered trying to go inside with it, but I wasn't quite sure how to route it and whether there'd be enough wire. Definitely good to know, though. Also great to know about the paint. I've heard that some antennas can be painted and others can't...I wasn't sure about this one. I do have plenty of expresspaint.com touch-up paint left (I used it on the front license plate bracket) so that's something that might be worth trying.

Alan, PM sent - thanks for yours. I do use the phone cam quite a bit and it is better than any other one I've used. I gripe about the disparity in quality between it and even the cheapest point & shoot digital, but I should keep in mind that given everything else the 8525 does, the camera is good.

Looks like mine except mine is Sirius, and my rear is not debadged. Looks pretty good though
