That leads me to another question. I have loaded CDs in the changer but: is the system supposed to read the CD and enter the artist's name and song title automatically on the screen info?
Also unrelated question - the drivers seat headrest - always rises by itself from most down position. Annoying / should the latch button lock it in place?

The headrest always goes up when i adjust my shoulder position. Yes it is annoying, and as far as I know, it does not lock in the lowest position. It only locks when it's above the lowest position.
There is NO excuse for disabling a display screen where you can not manually enter data. The thought that programmers could screw this up or the thought that someone would do this intentionally, I'm not sure which I find more insulting.
I also find it absolutely unacceptable that people are having to hack into their cars and install switches to get features working that should be a given.
I almost had my nav system changed a couple weeks ago to get the voice commands working. But fortunately thanks to this forum, I found out they would install a new firmware version of the nav that would disable the Volume overrride sequence for the nav system. There is no way I'd rather have a voice command that lets me enter climate controls as opposed to a working nav system.
As much as I love my ES350, I also hate it. It is totally insulting to be treated like little children by a luxury car manufacturer.
Thanks for the updates on the headrests and CD infor. These are commercial CDs off the shelf from Best Buy. They do, however, register on my Dell laptop when played. So far, the Black Sapphire / Cashmere UL drives like a dream (our first Lexus) over our previous Town Car and current LS (my business use car).
If the CD is coded with the text info, then it should show. Not all CDs are coded that way. If you are playing a CD filled with MP3 files, then the player will read the file names and display them.

Dunno if it is capable of displaying MP3 file info other than the filename itself, but I do know it definitely displays the filename--I use "Song Name-Artist Name.mp3" as my format for assigning filenames to my MP3 files, and that is what is displayed under "Title" (I think it's "Title") on the display screen...at least as much of the filename that can be displayed across the screen itself, that is. Files are listed in original track # order...
The same thing happened to me. Just mail the unit (just the box) back to VaisTech and ask them to add the agree button press feature for your Lexus. They'll send back a new unit the same day at no cost to you.
That was a nice bit of customer service on their part. But it would have been better to have this as an option on their web site.
Since this niftly little feature is one of the reasons I bought the VaisTech unit in the first place, it was worth the week without it to get this added on.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier, but wanted to say thanks dreyfus for the feedback. I had the unit professional installed and don't believe I'll have it removed, shipped, and replaced just to add this feature. I agree, it would have been nice if it had shown as an option on it's web site to begin with.
Are you sure you don't have the feature? I'm not sure if there's a way of telling if you do or don't unless you try it. I bought my Vaistech unit in the last ClubLexus group buy and then had it professionally installed. They didnt' activate the feature but I found the instructions in the manual and then did it myself. It is a feature that can be turned on and off.
CRKSTR, all they need is the control unit. If it was installed in an easily-reached place under the dash you can just unplug it and mail it in - no need to do anything else with the wiring. When the replacement unit comes in just plug it back in.
But the amount of work involved goes up exponentially if the unit is in a hard-to-reach location.
I have a question about the Vaistech SLI... Their website is confusing me... They say that this unit eliminates the need for cassette adapters, etc...
BUT, doesn't the IS come with a built-in AUX port in the arm-rest that the iPod can directly plug into?
So, on the ISx50, what are the benefits of the Vaistech, besides bypassing the "I agree" screen? (Which btw, I think is almost worth $200 alone to save the annoyance of pressing it each time!)

With the VaisTech unit the iPod is automatically charged, and all the controls (volume, playlist selection, forward, back, repeat, shuffle, etc.) are accessed via the car's audio controls. Plus, a bluetooth phone call automatically pauses the iPod and resumes when your phone call is over.
I love the set & forget capability of the whole system. I never touch my iPod unless I'm bringing it inside to add new songs.
Using the AUX port, you have to control the iPod directly, plus you have to plug it in separately to recharge.

Can someone post pics of the vaistech installation? I just realized that some of my friends have iPods and I think it would be sweet if they could just drop their iPod in my car and control it via the nav screen...
And, even if I don't have an iPod, I can still bypass the "I agree" screen without an iPod hooked into the SLI right?

This location is only for iPods that will be in the driver's footwell. The cable that comes with the VaisTech unit is not long enough to reach the glove compartment from here, so if you want to put your iPod in the glove compartment or in the center storage section you'll have to mount the VaisTech unit closer to the center of the car.
This is where I have my iPod for now. I plan to move it a little more under the dash so it's not so exposed to prying eyes in the future, but this works well so far. The iPod is temporarily clipped to the car's center section via a cheap plastic iPod holder I picked up at WalMart.
And yes, the I AGREE auto-select feature works whether an iPod is connected or not.
