I think that is "Hara kiri" not sure if I have the spelling right. Anyway other Japanese CEOs have publicly apologised for subpar performance in the past...this is a huge disgrace and I think it is the modern business equivalent of hara kiri. Maybe Toyota/Lexus CEO should seriously consider this because of all the sub par quality problems that are not aligned with their advertised promise of "The Persuit of Perfection". Mortified is not enough, although the "mort" in "mortified" is a Latin derivative of death, so maybe their description of their level of concern is not that far removed from the traditional consequence of failure.

The dealers are concerned over the quality, so no need for extreme measures, the future may be better for the 09 buyers particularly if they take a quality triage approach to lessen issues they can address quickly.

(((((Dealer council's top concern: Vehicle quality

NGG,

When I first read this a while back I thought maybe too rigid to tie a slogan to actual events until it became obvious that a conscious decision had been made to allow production output for increased sales/profit to govern level of quality in the final product rather than Quality Control division govern the level of output.

That approach and short staffing QC employees is a recipe for inviting issues for any business. I don't see where blaming rapid growth for quality problems is going to make those subjected to the result in the product feel good.

I have an 08 and it seems some of the problems from the first year new ES in 07. However, there are remnants of some of the issues. But...until people stop buying, it may not have a huge effect. I bought the ES over the GS (and the GS cost more) for a variety of design reasons but also because Consumer Reports downgraded the GS in reliability (the ES is still good per CR). And, in fact, CR doesn't even recommend the GS350 AWD at all!!!! So, as far as I am concerned Lexus lost a GS sale to me! (of course I broke down and bought an ES..but the issues I am having are minor).

My car has had most the problems that were mentioned. Engine noise at the start with RPM soaring, rattles in dash + moonroof, flare, break squeaking, car slightly pushing itself when it is almost brought to stop, disappointing mileage, etc. Not much of major issues, but I hope to get them fixed soon.

I've had this happen with a 02 es model, it would happened every time I had the system recharged for a little while. My a/c system had a pretty bad leak . Maybe have it checked out.

Good luck

Ok thanks. I have an appointment for this Friday at the dealer and they are gonna recharge it. Hopefully that fixes it. Especially here in Hawaii where the a/c is a lifeline... Lol. Thanks again

I agree the voice recognition isn't very good. After my 2007 I got a 2010 which was supposed to have improved VR and I found it to be about the same as the '07.

What is the student voice recognition?
