Default Getting used to the new ES350

I came from driving a tiny Mazda Miata. Now this ES350 feels like a powerful giant in comparison. I occasionally drive my wife's SUV, but the ES350 has a very unique feel. It's not overly large, but from the inside it feels like a large vehicle. I am still not used to the shortened trunk area. When backing into a parking space, I keep thinking I have very little space behind the car when in fact (according to the backup camera) i have lots of space to move. Same thing with the sides. I keep thinking there is no room to squeeze in, but when i look at the parking space after i pull in, lotsa space on both sides!!! I keep having this new car paranoia and at times it drives me nuts. I removed a whole shelf in my garage over the weekend so i have more room to park (fear of hitting the shelf). I must say, the downward rear view side mirrors are fantastic for parallel parking.... No more tire-against-the curb. I also need to get used to this extra horsepower. Note that my old Miata was 1.8 liter engine @ 134 horsepower. It was enough for me most of the time, but i always had a hard time accelerating up this big hill next to the freeway. Now i feel im a more aggressive driver, which may not be a good thing. I just need to get used to this car more.... It's like a whole new world.

Any of you are still adjusting to this new car? It certainly takes a little getting used to....

I'm adjusting to the size of the car as well, especially when parking in tight spaces.

Imagine what it would be like, though, to drive a 1976 Lincoln Continental.

Just wait until they come out with the ES600h. That should make the ES fly...
