Windshield wipers too high
 

I noticed that the position of my windshield wipers are higher than usual. (see pic below) I can see them when I'm driving. I tried to manually move them but couldn't. Is this normal or does anyone know how to fix this myself? Thanks.

Check your owners manual for 'winter' wiper setting which is what yours look like they're in.... On the GS you can push hard downwards and they'll snap down below the edge of the hood.

Thanks, I just found that on my manual. Actually I tried that earlier this morning but in fear of breaking the wipers I didn't push down too hard. I'll try again later.

Yeah, you've really got to give them a push to get it down. It does feel like they're going to snap off.

Reminds me a story last week when I brought my ES350 back home and opened the hood. Than, I wanted to close it but it didn't go down with a light push. I was afriad to push hard on it , so I called dealership to ask them if its OK to do that LOL!!! That part was not in the manual ;)

Another thing that feels that way (I believe I tested that the ES350 has this feature when i drove one a couple of weeks ago) is the sunvisor extension.

Take the sunvisor (over either the driver or passenger side) and pop it out of the clip as if you were going to swivel it around to the side window. When it's loose give it a pull and it will extend out so you can cover the center window.

Here's how it works on the 2GS, see how it doesn't look like it extends, but the last one shows how far it does.... not the greatest action sequence, but you get the idea.

Is that normal? What is the point of that? Does my RX and LS have that feature too or is that just the GS and ES?

I believe the LS does it, but not sure about the RX.

It's so you can position the visor in the middle of the windshield or further back on the side window.

Bizzaro-bro, i checked under my hood yesterday and had that exact reaction! i didnt want to apply too much force, so i did it very slowly. hahahahha

Alright, Well I checked both of the cars, and they both do that... But I dont understand when would you use that... So if you guys could answer that... I have never ever noticed that

Finally got the wipers to the lower position. I followed the manual and this time pushed harder and they snapped into place nicely :thumbup:

That is a nice feature if you live in the snow belt. This way you can lift the blades up without interference from the hood to clear out the snow and ice, then let the blades down. If not then the blades just pack the snow in under the hood and you can't get at them to unstuck them when they get frozen to the window. Being in Georgia, you probably rarely have call for this.
