Aloha folks, I just bought a battery tender from amazon. While charging it said 80% charge, but twice the the horn went off and once the doors locked. Is this typical of an inexpensive charger, or may this be something else?

I use one daily in winter in garage and never experienced that, so something else I think

 

Hmmm...I know when my battery was dying, the horn kept going off at random times while parked. I didn't have a battery tender though, but I would say just based on my experience and now yours, it's related to the charging system in general?

 

Was your battery dead or weak before hooking up?

I have several brand name battery tenders and have never had an issue like yours.

 

I'm running 2 of these for cars that primarily sit in storage and get taken out for occasional joy rides. No such problems. They also get placed on the other cars when I'm working on them, because I had to move one of the garage queens out of the bay, may as well freshen up the battery of the car I'm working on. No problems there either. This has included the ES in the past.
