TPMS Flashing

2007 ES350

My TPMS is flashing for 60 seconds than staying solid. I think I have a bad sensor. Called around and Mr. Tire and NTB want $200-$250 for parts and labor. I think that is a little outrageous since the sensor is $50. Install and program is fairly simple.

No way this is what people are paying- there has to be a shop doing this for $75-$100

Anyone have a recommendation? Sam's? Costco?

Thanks

Have you checked the air pressure in your spare tire?

You have a bad sensor. Get it from Ali for 10-15 bucks and install it.

Funny- TPMS light was on about a month ago and putting air in the spare fixed it.

I think the spare is the culprit and will need to be changed.

Pep boys said they can do it for $80 parts and labor. I can live with that

I would check the air pressure in all of your tires again, including the spare.

If you take it to a tire store, they may just change the sensor based upon your instructions without actually diagnosing things first.

Do you know what tire is causing the issue?

The same happened to me on my 2008 - I put the tire pressure below the range and drove around with the tires low for a 3-5 miles. Then when I started the car again, the blinking had stopped and it showed only the low pressure indicator (solid yellow). If inflated the tires to normal range and the lgith went out. There are a lot more tips for this issue on the FaceBook Group for Gen 5 Lexus ES350's. Search Groups fo for 5th Gen Lexus ES350 Group 2007-2012.

Good Luck!

Thanks- I was going to have them test all the sensors to find the one going bad.

It's not consistent- I had the flashing/steady light for a day or two and it went away on its own. It came back for a day and went out again the next day.

I have an appointment today at 3pm- lets see what they find.

Any luck finding the issue?

They replaced the driver side rear but couldn't get the TPMS light to go off. They said drive it a few miles and it should go away. I got home and did a tpms reset using the button under the steering wheel.

Drove around 25 mles and the light once again started to flash for about a minute and stayed solid. It's now been doing that for 2 days. I went ahead and bought a TPMS AUTEL tool from Amazon and will troubleshoot/program myself. The tool is arriving today.

If the issue is with the sensor they replaced, I will go back and have them fix it. They used a pep boys brand tpms

Are you sure they weren’t quoting you for all 4?

If all the sensors are original it is common to find 1 go out and then the rest start dying out during the ECU relearn. They’ve been in there for a while and I would recommend doing all 4 or 5 depending if you have one in the spare at the same time. Also if you had a bad one in there and the tpms reset button kept getting pushed Toyota/ lexus go into a lock out mode. Not all do it but it happens and if you don’t have a tool to take the ECU out of closed loop the light will never turn off. Even some skilled techs don’t know what to do and tell you to just drive.

I had a tire shop do just that. They did their best but couldn't get the light light to go out. So I left with 5 good tpms sensors and a light saying something was wrong. About a week or so later I found another reset button under the the glove box. I pushed it down for a few seconds and went inside. Next day to my amazement the TPMS light was off.

Your model/ year has the 2nd set of sensors button. Depending on what position the button was in when they reprogrammed the ECU they relearned the ECU with the sensors in the wrong set. When you pushed the button to look for the other set of sensors it found them.
I forgot I was in the ES section so this is also a possibility.
