Default How hard is changing the power steering fluid lines ?

The high and low pressure ? Thx also how many quarts of fluid needed for empty to capacity ? Is 2 gallons overkill ?

How mechanical are you? If you work on your own brakes, can change the alternator, and can change the rear spark plugs on your ES 350, then you should be able to do the power steering fluid lines.

You can do a complete flush/ change of the power steering fluid with 3-4 quarts. NOTE: Use DEXRON IV ATF FLUID or TOYOTA WS ATF FLUID for the power steering fluid.

It will require a flare nut tool for the high pressure line fittings. When removing the old line, it is sometimes easier to cut the line so that you can use a standard socket to remove the old fittings which may be a little frozen on.

WS is too thin for the power steering system. You want a Dexron ATF fluid.

Dexron III or III.
Are you replacing the ruber or metal parts?

WS is what the dealer sold me when I did my power steering fluid flush/change. Nearly 2 years and 50,000 miles later, all us good. WS is full synthetic.

It can be full synthetic and still be too thin for the power steering system. You can get full synthetic Dexron ATF fluid. It is all about the correct viscosity for the system. It is good to hear your power steering is still good 2 years later. Maybe the system is not that sensitive to the fluid that is used. When these cars were built the manual specified Dexron ATF.
