Default Grill Mod Complete

Hello all...just sharing pics of my diy project. I decided to wrap my front bumper middle bar similar to an LS460 in 3m anthracite. I never wrapped anything before so I was a little hesitant. Did it the right way and removed the bumper and all trim this way there are no gaps and I didnt have to cut the film on my paint. Once reassembled, the vinyl is tucked underneath the grills and chrome and has no chance of lifting or failing. Im happy with how it came out, covered my plate screw holes, not perfect but came out really good for my first time wrapping. 3m is nice and thick so it will withstand rock chips. Enjoy the pics.

10 bucks for the vinyl and 10 bucks for vinyl install kit👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

3m Vinyl arrived...

Bumper off, tons of rivets, clips and screws but easy work.

Looks like a new avalon in this pic with a huge gaping hole

Ready to disassemble

Thanks! Yeah happy with it and different from black that most have done.

Id say it took me a couple hours with a snack break? Most time consuming part was removing the chrome surround and upper grill, those things were in there good. I took my time too because I only bought enough vinyl for one shot at it.

Couldn't you just have painted it?

Yes... but... would had to have done filler for the holes and dimples, sand, then prime then paint. Then buy some paint that I didnt have a paint code for, no spray gun or compressor yada yada. Vinyl made way more sense for me.

Also, this method I used was 20 bucks, reversible and more resistant to rock chips. I have a long daily highway commute.

Pic outside, the 3m anthracite looks different depending on lighting.

And, if you’d have painted it you would still have to clear wrap it to protect from bug and rock chips. Nice job.

Good point and thanks. Would have ended up wrapping it after paint, too much work for me.

I was thinking of doing that myself, makes it look wider. Also I'm thinking of wrapping the mirrors , I've seen factory audis with them wrapped looks sharp especially on white with the panoramic roof

Like this? Crafted line black grill and middle bar with black mirrors.

do you need a front plate where you live? If not, I would've sanded down the mount holes first and filled with some epoxy...just to ensure smoothness.

but the overall looks really good...

How does one wrap a mirror? so many bends...and the stock itself would have a seam?

No, I just purchased the vehicle a few weeks ago, previous owner lived in a state requiring front plate. Since this was my first attempt at wrapping, I didnt want to do anything permanent to the bumper like filling and sanding. This way if I wasnt able to wrap it good I could reassemble and put the painted bumper plugs I made back in. When this wrap gets old and pitted I will fill the holes and sand for a better finish and re wrap. For now, looks way better then two black holes or plugs on a non perfect daily driver. Loving the new look too with the anthracite middle bar. In person you really have to put your nose up to the front bumper to notice the covered up holes under the wrap.
