Default Abs/trac off

Today, out of the blue, the ABS light on my 1997 ES300 came on along with the flashing TRAC OFF light. They turn on about 5 minutes after starting my car and then stay on. I am supposed to be driving to Seattle tomorrow (175mi) for a few days but am wondering if I should cancel now. I won't be able to get into the shop to run the codes until Monday.

I did have my car in there maybe a month ago to pay a million dollars to get the check engine light turned off. I don't even remember what it was but if whatever the problem now is something detrimental, I'm thinking they would have noticed? I've driven maybe 200 miles since then.

Bail on the trip?

PS: Checked the PSI in the tires today. They were 4PSI under, are now properly inflated, and then didn't alleviate the problem.

Hello,

ABS and TRAC OFF lights means that you are now out of both of them. It will be difficult to diagnose without a code to work with, the issue may be from a bad sensor to a failed ABS Module.

Should you cancel the trip? If it is not critical, I wouldn't take a chance, especially not knowing what exactly is causing this issue. It is always better to play it safe wherever possible. Maybe you can get a rental or something like that?

Please let us know once you will get the code.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
