yeah i saw that the back wheel was smaller, and that they were in the same position and that the back wheel was also too far back on the tire.... but other than that, lol. anyway, they look good, but yes they do cost a lot...
NO! Keep the SC rims. I've been thinking about selling my 96 and getting a 97/98 and SC rims just because yours looks so damn good with them.
I was the one that said in another post that the SC rims look better on your car than they do on the SCs.
Besides, the SC rims still have the L logo, you gotta love that! I know I do with my IS rims on my ES.
Keep the SC rims and save your money.
Your car looks sweet FrankWhite!

I would keep them the way they are.
Look what just arrived at my front door today, heh heh

I'm a dumb a$$! I didn't realize those were still SC rims. I just found the conversion kit in the SC forum.
My apologies.
I still like the look of the pie plates (as they are affectionately called) on the ES. With the conversion kit they look like any other aftermarket rim.
So even though I am a dumb a$$, I still like the look FrankWhite has now. Although the SCs do look better with the conversion kit.
I'll attach a before and after pic I am borrowing from the SC430 forum.

Nixsun, is your ES beige or silver? Can't tell from your sig. I like that silver they had in 97-99, I think it was called Oyster Pearl. Black Pearl emblems look awesome on silver cars, I'd go for that mod too.
On the issue of the wheels, the conversion kit looks nice, but the "pie plates" give the wheels a distinct, sculpted, work-of-art look that's unmistakeably Lexus SC. If I lived in a warmer climate, I'd probably have those wheels on my car right now.
This brings up something I hadn't really thought about in awhile. I had the chance to get an Oyster Silver '97 for the same price as my black '96. I went for the '96 because it had 20K fewer miles, and I liked the front end of the 96 better. But I have to admit the interior of the 97 is much nicer, with plusher seats, more wood, etc. Sometimes I kick myself over the mods I could have done to it (00-01 HID lamps, 00-01 tails, TRD supercharger, etc), but I didn't want to buy a car with 94K and an uncertain service record, whereas the '96 I bought had been maintained meticulously at that particular Lexus dealership.
In fact, I found a magazine from February 1997 the other day. It had an ad for the then-new 97 ES. It was a panoramic shot of the interior with the tagline "What a Lovely Place to Entertain a G-Force" At first I thought it was an LS400 ad, with the drape of the leather, the wood panels around the window controls, the moveable rear headrests, etc. I think that's what jump-started my MCV20 envy
