Default Change the shifter

Not fond of the funky shifter gate in my automatic 2013. It looks like newer models have the traditional straight gate, which is what I'd like (for the look and function). Is it possible to swap mine out for a newer version? New handle and gate would be fine if that's what it takes. Anyone done this? Any advise? I've swapped my Porsche 986 shifter for a 911 shifter and it was an easy and very nice upgrade so it can be easy and fairly common depending on vehicle, guess that's why I ask...

I was under the impression that they just added the dust cover.

Thanks for the input. Didn't want to start a new thread but having a couple issues I'm looking for advice on...

First, the seat memory doesn't go back to the last position when I start the car. It positions the wheel correctly but only brings the seat forward about half way. I have the entry assist on partial. This issue leaves me hitting the memory 1 button everytime I start the car. It wasn't doing this when I first got the car, upon startup the car would always resume the last memory setting. What am I doing wrong?

Second, formatted a 16 gig thumb drive with Fat32 and burned a single CD to it in MP3 format. However all i get is "no music files found" when plugged into the car (the USB does enable when I plug in the drive so I know the car is at least seeing the drive). Even tried moving a single song out of the album folder but still "no music files found." What am I doing wrong?

Any assistance would be great with these annoying little issues.

Is there any chance that you started using a different key fob at the same time when the seat position issue started? The remembered driver's seat position on the ES can be registered to a specific key fob, and, when it is registered, every time you start the car, it will return to that position. So, if you switched key fobs and if the different fob was registered to a different position, the seats will move to that position every time you start the car.

The following is from page 122 in the 2017 ES manual. It explains the procedure for registering the key to the seat position. You might want to try to re-register the fob that you are using to your preferred position. (The same information is likely in the manuals for other model years, but the page number might be slightly different.)

● Different driving positions can be registered for each electronic key. Therefore, the
driving position that is recalled may be different depending on the key being carried.
● If a door other than the driver’s door is unlocked with the smart access system with
push-button start, the driving position cannot be recalled. In this case, press the driving
position button which has been set.

And from page 119.

Each electronic key can be registered to recall your preferred driving position.
■ Registering procedure
Record your driving position to button “1”, “2” or “3” before performing the
following:
Carry only the key you want to register, and then close the driver’s door.
If 2 or more keys are in the vehicle, the driving position cannot be recorded
properly.
Check that the shift lever is in P.
Turn the engine switch to IGNITION ON mode.
Recall the driving position that you want to record.
While pressing the recalled button,
press and hold the door lock
switch (either lock or unlock) until
the buzzer sounds.
If the button could not be registered,
the buzzer sounds continuously for
approximately 3 seconds.

Oh wow, OK. I'm using the same FOB but did have a second one programmed recently. Never imagined the FOB had anything to do with the driver memory, kinda cool and kinda not. Well that's one issue down.

Have you verified the files are actually MP3 and not MP4?

Default Is this shifter swap doable?

Like 400to300h I also prefer the shift boot look. Has anyone attempted this swap yet? If so what parts are required?

Thanks,
-C

When you plug the usb into a pc, do you see mp3 files or a 'cd'?

This is funny. One of the reasons I bought my 14 300h was the shifter (and the wooden steering wheel of course). Gives it a classic look. To each his own I guess.
