Audio upgrade.
I was not able to use the factory microphone so I used an aftermarket microphone that was included with my new HU.
My car is currently in storage so I can’t snap a picture, but it’s coming out right underneath the driver’s sun visor between the glass and header. Hardly noticeable and works very well.
Good luck!

I'm looking to upgrade my non-nav 2008 ES350 (newly purchased, only 81k miles!) in similar fashion to the original poster. I was wondering about the microphone install. Would a Pioneer or BOSS double DIN (or any other brand really), be able to utilize the factory microphone? Or would I need to install a separate aftermarket microphone to enable calling through the car speakers with my iPhone over Apple CarPlay? Has anyone done this? And have any pictures of how they did the microphone setup/install?
Found this post in a search, hoping the OP is still around to respond....
When you replaced component speakers and added the sub, what did you do with the factory sub? Did you disconnect it or leave it connected? I have replaced all component speakers and head unit in my ES, and I added a mono amp plus subs. Right now the factory sub is still connected.
