How is the install holding up?

Any problems?

If you were doing it now,
would you put in a different head unit?

I am shopping for an ES and thinking of getting a non nav ES,
so I can put in a similar setup.

I've had no issues so far.

I chose this HU because of the capacitive touch screen which at the time was hard to find besides in the Alpine iLX-007 which I didn't like due to the lack of expandability. I would seriously consider the forthcoming Alpine iLX-107 due to the wireless CarPlay integration because I have to admit, plugging in the phone every time I get in the car isn't ideal.

Does the location bother you at all have to look slightly down?

Can you do a similar setup with a es 330 without nav?

It is in the same position as the original head unit so I guess I don't understand.

Pretty sure all you need is this.

The head unit normally goes on top, which is the position it is in in the 330 Metra link in your previous post,
and in all Lexus cars and all other cars that I have ever seen.
Then the heater goes below it.

With this ES 350 no Nav setup the heater is on top and the HU goes below.
So does this ever bother you?

For me it is in the normal position because I drove around in this car for 7 years before replacing the head unit;

Not so sure I would like it in the normal-NAV position, seems like it might be up in the sunlight?

There is glare at times, thinking it's probably about the same as the normal-NAV position.

I definitely am glancing down to see the screen for reversing, video, etc., but I actually prefer the position it is in because I like to mess around with the touch screen and I have full access to it from the shifter whereas when I'm in my wife's car - which has a screen in the normal-NAV position - I have to hold my arm up in the air to access the touch screen.

Thank you for all of the info you've provided in this thread. I just purchased a 5th gen ES 350 and was considering this exact radio. I do have a couple of questions that I hope you can answer.

1. The volume and track selection buttons obviously work on the steering wheel, but do the phone integration buttons also work? Meaning, can you answer and hang up with those steering wheel controls? You mentioned the voice dial button worked - does it activate siri?
2. As an iPhone user, have you used Waze via the AppRadio app and if so, how well did it work?

Thank you and sorry if you already answered these questions and I missed it.

1. Yes, the steering wheel controls work as you have described above. Alternatively, if the phone is plugged in and the cabin noise is minimal, you can access Siri by saying; "Hey Siri".

2. No I have not.

I cannot say enough good things about the entire system especially the head unit, please do not hesitate should you have any further enquiries.

Correction: I think you don't even need the phone plugged in to access the "Hey Siri" should you have a 6 or later and your BT is on at both your phone and the HU. Of course at this point the only thing you'll really be able to do through the system would be to place a phone call through the Android side. Your texts, etc. will obviously only be done at the phone.
