Default 2001 Lexus ES300 Problem

Hey Guy,

I currently own a 2001 Lexus ES300 150,000 miles. Lately, I've been noticing while accelerating at low speeds, when the RPM hits maybe 2500 it would spike to around 4,000 causing the car to hiccup, I would then press the gas, then it would shift properly. This problem comes up off and on. Like there are times it would shift normally but times where it would hiccup. I only notice it when it tries to shift at low gears. This morning, I also found a leak in my transmission. Not sure if this would be the problem?
Thanks in advance for your advice!!

Is the transmission oil low? Make sure the fluid is topped off and have the leak fixed soon.

I'm taking it to the shop tomorrow. I'll update when I get the chance

Sounds like a transmission issue to me, perhaps like speedkar9 said, low on transmission oil due to the leak. Let us know what you find out.

Just got my car from the mechanic today and my shifting problems have vanished!! The mechanic, at first couldn't find the problem! So he just replaced the transmission valve and repaired a seal on the drivers side of the transmission.

Interesting one.... sounds trans related for sure...

Typical the problem doesn't happen for the mechanic!

Which valve did the mechanic replace?
