I've programed the remotes and keys for a couple of Toyota's of about the same vintage and didn't have any problems. Are you sure you have the correct remote?

I've seen those kit on eBay and wondered about the key program. My key housing broke in half where the key is secured to the remote. Are the programming instructions posted online?

Do a search on Ebay for the FCC ID on the back of the remote. Programming instructions are not hard to find (some Ebay sellers include them) and if you do it wrong no problem just try again. You can also replace the shell if the electronics are still good.

Thanks for replying. My electronics are still good. Will research from there to find a shell and have the key cut. Too bad the key portion doesn't just swap out with the new shell.
