Default Mechanical key

Is the mechanical key that is inserted into the electronic key supposed to fit in that hole underneath the driver door handle? I tried trying to fit it in there but it didn't seem like it fit and certainly didn't go in all the way. The dog leg end of it faces out from the car, not into it , right? I understand it is supposed to be the valet key and to be used incase the electronic key doesn't work. I looked in the big owners manual but it didn't give pics or detailed instructions. Thanks for responses.

no what you use it for there is to pop the plastic piece off the handle then you will see where to use the actual master key itself

It is not intended to be a valet key. Actually it is the opposite.

When valet parking, use the trunk lock in the glove compartment and then lock the glove box with the mechanical key.

That way the trunk and glove box cannot be opened.

See that door on the passenger side of the dashboard? Inside there you will find a big thick book with lots of nice pictures that show you exactly how to do this.
