Default 94 es300 big problem

So I recently bought a 94 es300 and it wont accelerate at all. It bogs when you give it gas. When its cold it wont even idle unless I feather the gas a little to keep it running and if im not careful it will bog out and die. Once I get it warmed up real good it will idle but when you give it gas it immediately bogs down and barely will stay idling sometimes dyeing. I've checked all the vacuum hoses and seems to be all good. It did have a tear on the intake tube but I have fixed that with no change. The engine light is on but my o2 scanner wont read it. It has the obd2 jack but for some reason it wont read. My neighbor had an engine light so I checked it and it gave me the right code to fix the problem so I know the scanner works. This is driving me nuts. Is there maybe a cam angle sensor on these that could do this or anything that anyone has encountered like this before... the car was working perfectly before this. New tank of gas (shell), battery, and tires... im a little stumped here and if I could get headin in the right direction to fix this or just start eliminating other possible causes. Thanks much in advance.

What is this sludge problem im hearing or reading? I took a look in the TB and into the upper plenum and its all nasty black crap in there... is this a problem that can cause it to perform that badly. Ive been working on cars for 15 yrs now and have seen some pretty dirty intake manis before and none have ever caused those cars to run that way... or this bad. I suppose I will proceed to take it off and completely clean it but I will wait until I get some feed back. Thanks again!

Just so you feel better, your model year was not prone to the sludge issue. Cleaning the TB may help.

Possibly a clogged fuel filter? It's easy and cheap to change so I would give that a shot, the engine might just not be getting enough fuel.
